On Tuesday our 2nd grade students took a field trip to the Daniel Boone Regional Library (DBRL). They learned about different areas of the library, how to check out books and even got their very own library card!! Now that our students have a library card, they can check out books online from DBRL. Just download the Overdrive app and students can read the day away at school and at home! Give it a try at http://www.dbrl.org/ebooks
This year all of our students are participating in the Children's Choice Awards. This program gives students the opportunity to read brand new books that are not yet available to the public. Students read the books and then share their opinion of the book by voting on-line. Students across the United States participate and they are the ones who decide which books are best! Mrs. Baumann is coming to the Prairie once a week to host a book club to discuss Children's Choice books with 5th grade students. The best part is at the end of the program, we get to keep many of these books in our own library!!
The Ukulele Singers performed on the Prairie! Mrs. Ensor's father was a part of the group. They showed everyone how to do the infamous Duck Dance from Germany. Our 5th grade students have been learning how to play the Ukulele in music class. They joined the Ukulele Seniors and played several songs together! We also learned how to play the Spoons!
